Lulu Make Up

luluguinnessvanitycase.jpgThis very funky purse is technically not a purse. It’s the Magazine Round Beauty Case from Lulu Guinness, a lovely product with a zip fastening and mirror inside for all your make up needs.

It’s a gorgeously retro, ’50’s inspired case that makes make up even more fun than it already is!

Lulu Beauty

lulu guinness beauty clutchHow hard is it not to fall in love with each and every item Lulu Guinness ever creates?

Impossible, I tell you! For instance, right now you are falling in love with this clutch purse. "But it has a strap!" I hear you cry. "Therefore it cannot be of the clutch family!"

But the strap is detachable, dear fashionista, and so if you feel like having a clutch day - just whip that strap off and use it for whatever else you might want it for.

Anyway! This purse is called the Beauty Comes From The Heart clutch from Lulu Guinness - a gorgeously embroidered little thing, with yet another of those cute little messages Lulu wants to remind us of:

"Beauty comes from the heart, not from a jar."

While I am not suggesting you throw away your jars of Creme De La Mer post-haste, it’s certainly a little slice of philosophy to put a smile on the face of the most hardened narcissist.

Lulu, we really *do* love you. Marry us!

Faerie Lulu

lulu guinness faerieOn first glance, this looks like a silver locket up close, doesn’t it?

It’s actually a purse - a Lulu Guinness purse, no less. It’s the Faerie Wings Purse, a lovely silvery-suede creation covered in sequins.

Although marked as a daytime purse, this seems far more appropriate for night use - it really is such a shimmery, delicate thing.

Very unusual - but very beautiful.

That’s Lulu Guinness!

Who Framed Lulu Guinness?

lulu guinness bethany purseHere’s another very very sweet purse with a bug motif going on:
It’s the Lady Bug Bethany from Lulu Guinness (who else?), a lovely yellow suede sholder bag with an old-fashioned magnet lock and a very fifties-style polka dot on the opening.

You can see the adorable lady bugs (or ladybirds, as they are known in England) on the front.

The whole polka dot trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon, and I have seen very few purses that adapt it in such a nice way - it’s not ALL dots, just enough to give popular fashion a knowing little nod.

All in all a gorgeous little cartoony purse - so very very Lulu Guinness!

Lulu Be True

luluguinnesstrue.jpgYou don’t need to be told this is a Lulu Guinness purse, do you? Even from a distance it glows with a sort of kooky light, a beacon to kitch and retro.

It’s called the Gianna - the Be True To Your Heart Gianna. Made of a simple dark canvas material mix, it’s decorated with gold stud decorations (hearts and circles in splendid abundance).

And the message inscribed?

"Be True To Your Heart."

That, right there, is one of the most important things anyone can ever learn — so buy carrying this purse not only are you paying homage to the fashions of fifty years ago, you are reminding people of what life is really about.

Now really, how many purses can claim to do the same?

Exactly.

A Girls Best Friend

luluguinnessdogcarrier.JPGI can’t think of anything a little dog would be more at home in than this Pooch Dog Carrier from Lulu Guinness. Traditionally, Louis Vuitton has been the carrier of choice for celebrity dogs, but isn’t this carrier more appropriate for a little doggy?

It’s made of soft, squishy black nylon, with the trademark Lulu Guinness embroidery design and silver hardware. It’s a beautiful little carrier, and for all it lacks in raw luxury, it more than makes up for it in sheer sweetness.

I bet if your little pup had the choice, he would choose the Lulu Guinness over the Louis Vuittons, Aspreys etc any day…

Lulu’s Ladies

lulu satin purse.jpgIt seems almost indecent to actually use a Lulu Guinness purse, doesn’t it? You get the feeling the purse should be placed on a pedestal somewhere and just gazed at by all and sundry. They’re always so gorgeous, it never ceases to amaze and delight that so much love and attention can go into making, well, anything.

The one on the left is a black satin coin purse with classic clasp and beading. I love the profile of the be-pearled lady, just like on those old-fashioned brooches. This is a purse for the good girls.

The purse below is a fishnet design wallet, made of laminated cotton with plenty of room for both coins and cards. It’s naughty without being crude and sexy without being smutty and just so fun and burlesquey — a purse for the cheeky girls.

lulu fishnet.jpgThey are both so delicate and lovely it’s almost too much. This is the sort of design the girls at Benefit try to pull off, but they can’t quite get the right level of class.

Despite the fragile look of these darlings, they are extremely durable and very high quality — much like the girls in the time period Lulu takes inspiration from.

Too scrumptious for words.

Lulu We <3 You

lulu2.jpgOh, god do I love Lulu Guinness.

I could walk around for hours, just looking at all the different purses. They are just so damn fun.

Usually when I look at purses, there are all these things going through my head like… what would it go with? How long will it last? What’s it made of? What season? What style? But with Lulu Guinness, all of that stuff is completely bypassed.

I simply do not care about anything other than how totally special and imaginative they are — if Willy Wonka made purses, this is what they would look like. Bright, shiny, glittery, pretty, unique, edgy, gorgeous works of art, each and every one. And the quality of the purses is just fantastic — even with all the detail and decoration. Both the purses pictured here are from the day-purse selection, check out the official site for all the rest — there really is something for everyone. Harrods has a lovely display at the moment; I remember one purse in particular that was built like a candy-house of sorts. Just the sweetest thing you could hope to see.

Inside every woman is a little girl with ink-stained fingers and a paint-splattered face — and these purses are made with that little girl in mind. They’re worth buying just to put on a miniature pedestal and stare at when you’re in need of some colour in your life.
