Dior Daintiness
You know that sketch from Little Britain with the Victorian-cross-dresser who insists he’s a laaaady? Well, he’d love this purse.
It’s a beautiful little vintage-design handbag made of white leather, with delicate, detailed stitching and silver hardware. It’s almost oriental, yet stays just this side of the line that divides it from a very innocent, wholesome English look.
I’m not terribly enamoured with the hanging ‘C’ and ‘D’, but otherwise it’s a lovely daytime purse… if it were summer you could take it to classical concerts at the park, or perhaps to Wimbledon, though at this time of year though it’s mostly a sweet reminder that, contrary to what one might be feeling, winter does not last forever.
Most diverting!
Kawaii & Hawaii
It is very, very cold, and the sky is grey, but I have to practically avert my eyes from this lovely little purse from the Dior saddle-bag collection.
Now it has to be said that I have not been the biggest fan so far of the saddle-bags from Dior; I always thought they were a little boring. But now there’s this Hawaiian purse: all shiny bright leather with silver hardware (I wonder if that trademark Dior ‘D’ is removable…?)
It’s kind of sweet that even in the midst of winter these beautiful, summery purses are being made… and after all, don’t people go on cruises in winter? Then there are places like Australia where Christmas Day finds you sunbathing on the beach… and if this isn’t a perfect beach purse, I don’t know what is.
Thanks to the Hawaii purse and the Japanese-styled one also pictured, I’ve developed quite an affection for these funny-shaped little things.
Very nice!
Delicate Dior
How lovely is this little clutch from Dior?
Now normally, I have to say, I am only really a fan of vintage clutches — I prefer there to be something of a shoulder strap, or handles. But this one here is undeniably sweet.
It’s a mish-mash of satin and patent leather, with a pink and white wrist strap. The strap is what keeps it from being too little girlish — it adds practicality and style. Even if you don’t use it as a day purse, it can be used as a cosmetics case, or just a special bag to put secret stuff like love letters or photographs.
The pattern is very delicate and feminine — soft yet sturdy. and the strap ensures you won’t leave it behind by accident (I don’t know about you, but I tend to do that with clutch purses…).
It’s simply bubblegum-delicious. <3
