Ruched Veneta
Now here’s a very old-fashioned purse – it’s the Ruched Leather Clutch from Bottega Veneta.
It’s pretty much standard in terms of what one would expect from Veneta – gorgeously soft leather, loving craftsmanship and a timeless look.
What does set this purse apart is the very lovely silver brooch crowning the fastening, silver detail and a lovely blue suede lining.

Snakey Veneta
Here’s a purse for the very brave – it’s the Karung Snakeskin Bag from Botega Veneta.
I say ‘for the very brave’ because this purse looks exactly like what it is made of – and I wouldn’t feel entirely sure that it wouldn’t come to life suddenly and give me a good nip on the behind.
We’ve featured snakeskin purses before, but this is the most snakey of them all. The hardware is a very classy tortoiseshell, with both a clasp and zipper – the lining is a gorgeously lux suede, and it has a very ‘in’ chunky chain handle.
Absolutely gorgeous purse – wear it at your peril!

Jelly Belly
I seriously just cannot take how freaking cute this Veneta bag is. It’s so cute I just want to grab it and squish it and bite it… if I owned this purse there would be a very serious danger of my eating it, leather or no leather, because there would constantly be a battle between my head telling me it is NOT edible and everything else saying, "But it <i>looks</i> so yummy!"
Anyway it’s leather (not candy!) on the outside, beige suede on the inside, braided strap and a funky little criss-cross pattern on the front. I don’t need to tell you that Veneta leather is second to none and that it’s a gorgeously decadent bag… those are things that are already evident, plus it’s so very purple, isn’t it? Crayon purple, my favourite kind.
And have I mentioned how very delicious it looks…?

La Reine Margot
Maybe by the time you read this post, the purse pictured here will either be a)sold out or b) near-impossible to get hold of.
I say this simply because it seems to be the case with every other Veneta bag — they become exclusive so fast that by the time you’ve registered it, it’s far too late. And I am well aware of how often it’s done deliberately — and Veneta can get away with it.
In fact, if they created just ten purses a year and refused to sell them to anyone but blonde-haired brown-eyed twenty-six year olds, all anyone would say is, "Oh, it’s a Veneta bag? Well that figures."
God bless them. This purse pictured here is an intraciatto leather purse with floral applique and a lovely leather chain handle. It’s a relatively small little purse with blue lining and flowers. The design is straight out of an Edwardian catalogue, feminine and graceful with a very modern twist due to the layering. Perfect for that whole soft, frilly late Victorian/early Edwardian look that is all over the runway and shops this season.
It’s just a beautiful, unique little piece with every standard you would hold Veneta to, surpassed — quite frankly, fit for a queen.

Veneta Princess
Bottega Veneta are famous for having gorgeously decadent ballgowns and evening dresses… if you’re lucky enough to see a collection on the runway, you’ll no doubt witness the many women swooning over the designs.
Veneta seem to tap right into that princess complex women have with designs that borrow as much from the ancient world (Cleopatra-ish Egyptian looks) to all those fantasy movies and books with heroic warriors and evil (yet beautiful) witches. There is an edge to this fashion house that makes it unique among all the standard leather specialists – that touch of the macabre in designs such as the purse above.
This line seems to be especially popular in Russia, where they have wholeheartedly embraced the white deerskin Veneta Purse – hardly surprising when you see how lovely it is.
Considering Halloween is coming up, I thought it would be the perfect time to showcase these beautful purses… I believe they are so in demand in certain places that stores such as Saks have actually put a limit on how many can be sold per person.
