Cream of Burberry

burberry-leather-purse.jpgThis is one of the classiest purses I’ve seen so far this year.

Coming from the Burberry Prorsum collection, it really does stand out: beautiful creamy leather with leather trim and canvas lining, not to mention an adjustable leather handle. It has a simple zip closure and a beigey lining with multiple pockets.

It’s not often Burberry release a purse that doesn’t have the traditonal Burberry check, which makes this purse all the more lovely — there’s just that tiny little Burberry logo to show where it comes from. The rest of the purse is a delight, with beautiful, soft colours — brown and white really is magical when it’s done with care — and the result is a purse any woman would be proud of.

Please Burberry, we want some more!

Bon Voyage

dooneyandbourketrunk.jpgThis is one of the most gorgeous pieces of luggage I have ever seen. Ever.

It’s the Hearts Rolling Trunk from Dooney & Bourke — a big, old-fashioned type of suitcase that belongs in movies where trains are leaving stations amidst clouds of smoke and couples are frantically kissing each other goodbye.

What’s not so old-fashioned about it is the recognisable Dooney & Bourke Heart design — you’ll have no problem spotting your suitcase among all the rest with those bright, cheerful hearts adorning the trunk.

It’s worth going on vacation just to have an excuse to show this off… absolutely adorable.

Botkier Convertible

botkier.JPGThis lovely shoulder bag is the Convertible, from Botkier: it gets its name from the extremely handy convertible shoulder strap.

That’s a very sweet touch because different people like different things. Some women like longer, slouchy straps so that the purse fits nicely against the top of their hip, others like the comfort and security of a bag that fits just under their arm.

It’s a typically gorgeous Botkier purse in all other ways — luxurious Italian leather, detailed clasp and craft, solid hardware with a overflap closure and an all-round look of cutting edge style and design.

Available in a variety of colours.

Poppy Coach

coachpoppypurse.JPGThis sweet little thing is the Poppy Pleated Small Hobo, from Coach.

It’s a beautiful design — on this size and style of purse. I’m not quite as enamoured of the poppy design on some of their larger-sized purses, simply because it’s the sort of look that really only works on the small.

The materials and craft are lovely — supple leather, with suede design on the poppy motif and suede lining. The closure is magnetic and the hardware is an unobstrusive nickel.

You have to hand it to Coach — they have really pushed the boat out in terms of creating new and unique purses without straying too far from the classics they’re good at.

A quintessential ’special’ daytime purse from Coach: another must-have.

Ferragamo Style

ferragamostripeypurse.jpgWhat we have here is the Woven Leather Hobo from Salvatore Ferragamo — made from, you guessed it, woven leather. The hardware is gold and there are zips, tassles and tags all over the place.

I don’t know why this purse is so instantly likable, but there is just something about it… the style is so seventies, so quirky — like someone took a sweater and made a purse out of it. In the best possible way.

Whatever is it, it works — and anyway. It’s Ferragamo.

When you have beautiful Italian leather and exquisite attention to detail, you don’t really have to wonder about how and why the end result is so fetching, now do you.

Bluella

luellabluepurse.jpgLuella Bartley is only going from strength to strength with the design and quality of her purses –  they’ve become extremely popular, and no wonder.

This lovely blue shoulder bag is a great example of a very ‘in’ purse from Luella Bartley’s ‘Luella’ label. It’s made of buttery-soft leather, with a suede lining and silver hardware.

The little padlock on the front reminds one of the Chloe Paddington bag, with a tiny "Luella" etched into it.

It’s a very fun purse for discovering stuff — like the adorable little heart charms, or the sneaky little pockets on either side…

What’s not to love?

Asprey Alligator

asprey clutchNow, here’s something you don’t see every day.

This lovely little clutch is from Asprey’s classic Bond Street collection — it’s made of soft creamy calfskin with straps of orange — yes orange! — alligator leather on the outside and silver hardware.

It’s really nice to have such a very bright, seasonal colour toned down by the simplicity of the ivory — iby carrying it you’re giving fashion a respectful nod without succumbing to it completely.

A very stylish, very beautiful made purse from Asprey, who are fast becoming an ArmCandy favourite!

Sweet’n\'Sour

louisvuittonjosephine.jpgThis doctor-style purse from the Louis Vuitton is a great example of vintage-chic done right: by that I mean that the design still has a modern twist to it with the print and the colour. Not quite as bright as some of the colours we’ve seen this season, this bag is very sweet with its cherry-pink hue.

Going by the very elegant name of the <i>Josephine</i>, it’s a sleek yet sturdy canvas purse, with cowhide trim and gold hardware.

It’s quite a youngish bag — very reminiscent of the doctors-and-nurses toys they sell in kids stores.

A very different, tangy purse from Louis Vuitton.

Jacobs’ Skittles

marc-jacobs-daria.jpgYou may have noticed that very bright, brash, blinding coloured bags are all the rage this season.

Now as much as we love all the yellows and pinks and greens and blues, not all designers can pull it off without looking cheap — and, as anyone with a Balenciaga will tell you, sometimes it feels as if the leather itself suffers.

Not so with Marc Jacobs.

This purse — the Daria bag — is one of those vibrantly-shaded purses, yet the leather is beautifully soft and supple.

It has a cherry-red suede lining, silver hardware, and of course that yummy dark purple colour. The silver stamped buckle on the front is very retro-chic, very cute…

Just another gorgeously crafted bag from Marc Jacobs to join their already-fantastic collection.

Chanel Fur

chanel-tweed-fur-purse2.JPGThis beautiful and rare tweed and fur Flap Bag from Chanel has got to be one of the most luxurious-looking purses ever created.

Part of their Winter line, it’s already sold out pretty much everywhere — and no wonder. It’s a gorgeously decadent bag, with lizard leather and rich black fur over the trademark seasonal tweed,. The classic silver Chanel logo on the front finishes the whole look.

This isn’t a purse that could take bad weather or roughhousing very well, but as a decorative, lush, glamorous handbag, you really can’t do better than it.

A real fur-lovers dream, this is a purse that is the very essense of covetable.
