Toil And Trouble
Continuing in their style of rather macabre purses, this particular one from the Ferragamo line caught my eye simply because, for a moment or two, I thought it was a cauldron.
It certainly has that whole squat, shiny look to it, not to mention the obscenely delicate chain handle emphasizing the evil design of the whole. The leather is not patent (despite that silvery sheen) but merely the excellent quality we expect from Team Salvatore.
Halloween is upon us, and no slutty witch should be without her Ferragamo Cauldron Purse (as it shall henceforth be known to me).
Darkly gorgeous… I love it.
Pretty, And Witty, And Gay
I have seen few things sweeter this year than this purse from the Marc Jacobs fall collection - a violet velvet satchel with a purse clasp and python detailing.
I <i>love</i> it. It’s so gloriously Victorian: so ladylike, so pretty and feminine and frou-frou. I love the cute little clasp and roses on the sides, I love the velvety luxuriousness of it all. It looks soft enough to be used as a pillow, so dainty and frilly that your dreams are sure to be beautiful.
All it needs is a little scottish terrier puppy on a violet velvet leash to complete the effect…
Marc Jacobs, I salute you. I mean, I <i>curtsey</i> to you.
Tis The Season
It’s getting colder by day, which only means one thing… the party season is almost upon us! I think you’ll agree when I say that you can’t possibly prepare yourself too early for it—the last thing you want to do when rushing last-minute around the shops on Christmas Eve is freaking out out about how that perfect dress you have does not have a perfect purse to go with it.
Gucci have some rather lovely purses this year. The one pictured above is an evening clutch, beautiful baroque design and detailing, very posh and very pretty.
This red one is lovely simply because it is roomy enough to carry whatever you need to get you through the night… :p
More Than Just A Pretty Face?
If your great-grandmother had any kind of taste (as well as being rich and living in Bologna) she most probably owned several Furla purses. Furla have long since established themselves as the discerning woman’s purse — great style without lacking in substance.
It’s not quite as easy to get hold of as, say, Balenciaga or Ferragamo (just a few boutiques in major cities like New York), but it’s worth taking the time to find the perfect one because they are just beautiful.
The purse you see here is the Phoenix, and it is about as cute as a purse gets without becoming twee. It’s from the fall/winter collection, and just the epitome of cold-season luxury… in fact, I’m already trying to figure out how much money I might get if I sold my hair.
Two hundred years of Italian craft just can’t be wrong!
Chloe-isms
If I were to become a businesswoman — or, you know, pretend to become a businesswoman — I believe I would need some sort of briefcase-y type thing in which to swing around all my important documents and casefiles.
I would spend many an afternoon searching for the *perfect* bag — feminine yet serious enough for the office, something tasteful and *me*. Then I would spot this Chloe bag, and get extremely excited extremely fast. Why? Because it is beautiful, and practical, and weatherproof, and classy… just what I’m looking for, really. It’s almost worth getting a real job for…
As for those boots… what can I say. Gorgeous.
What a team!
Coach iPod
For some strange reason I never noticed till today that Coach do iPod cases — silly really, because quite a few designers have added them to their collection.
This one is called (you guessed it) the Python, it’s new and very retro-cool… I can see these being huge in somewhere where there’s a big punk/alternative scene, like Tokyo.
I know it’s not <i>strictly</i> a purse but it’s definitely fun enough to be added. Here’s an iPod Shuffle one too:
Veneta Princess
Bottega Veneta are famous for having gorgeously decadent ballgowns and evening dresses… if you’re lucky enough to see a collection on the runway, you’ll no doubt witness the many women swooning over the designs.
Veneta seem to tap right into that princess complex women have with designs that borrow as much from the ancient world (Cleopatra-ish Egyptian looks) to all those fantasy movies and books with heroic warriors and evil (yet beautiful) witches. There is an edge to this fashion house that makes it unique among all the standard leather specialists - that touch of the macabre in designs such as the purse above.
This line seems to be especially popular in Russia, where they have wholeheartedly embraced the white deerskin Veneta Purse - hardly surprising when you see how lovely it is.
Considering Halloween is coming up, I thought it would be the perfect time to showcase these beautful purses… I believe they are so in demand in certain places that stores such as Saks have actually put a limit on how many can be sold per person.
Stunning, expert design not to mention delicacy of craft, one of these purses is a lifetime addition to the very hardcore purse-lover’s selection.
Bon Appetit!
Ladies Love Chanel
There’s something about a Chanel purse that makes me want to be… more womanly. I want to wear stiletto heels and pencil skirts everywhere, to smoke posh cigarettes and wear scarlet lipstick.
I could just as easily have subsituted the word "womanly" for the word "French" up there, couldn’t I?
But that’s Chanel: sophistication and elegance of a very particular kind; the kind that you have to be born with (or else have spent seven years in a Swiss finishing school to attain).
It’s such a ladylike, glamorous fashion house, the kind of glamour all women aspire to: every prom and wedding and dinner party, every expensive perfume and slow dance, all distilled into a purse.
Like Louis Vuitton, they are one of the few labels who can put their logo prominently, perhaps even obscenely, on their goods and not come across as tacky. Exceptional quality and style as well as a enormous range to choose from…
I can’t wait to be a grown-up so I can wear Chanel everyday.
Lulu We <3 You
Oh, god do I love Lulu Guinness.
I could walk around for hours, just looking at all the different purses. They are just so damn <i>fun</i>.
Usually when I look at purses, there are all these things going through my head like… what would it go with? How long will it last? What’s it made of? What season? What style? But with Lulu Guinness, all of that stuff is completely bypassed.
I simply do not care about anything other than how totally special and imaginative they are — if Willy Wonka made purses, this is what they would look like. Bright, shiny, glittery, pretty, unique, edgy, gorgeous works of art, each and every one. And the quality of the purses is just fantastic — even with all the detail and decoration. Both the purses pictured here are from the day-purse selection, check out the official site for all the rest — there really is something for everyone. Harrods has a lovely display at the moment; I remember one purse in particular that was built like a candy-house of sorts. Just the sweetest thing you could hope to see.
Inside every woman is a little girl with ink-stained fingers and a paint-splattered face — and these purses are made with that little girl in mind. They’re worth buying just to put on a miniature pedestal and stare at when you’re in need of some colour in your life.
Nobody does it better, Lulu.
Balenciaga Suede
Balenciaga’s fall/winter line is gorgeous this year — I’m especially taken with the very beautiful brown suede they’ve incorporated for a few of their purses. I love brown suede in any case, because it has a timeless classic quality to it — unfortunately, when you live in a country where it rains a lot there is a danger of the purse becoming harmed.
For those lucky enough to reside in warmer climes, this purse would be a great addition to your current collection — it is a perfect daytime purse, flexible enough to suit any mood, plus it will add instant class to whatever outfit you wear.
Go on, you know you want it…
